Only one place in town with homemade truffles?

Have you heard the news? Because it's true. There is only one place in town that has homemade truffles:  the Broadway Brew.  As Alex informed in her last post, she made truffles for Christmas. They were delicious.  Changed my life. And so the plan was created:  Valentine's truffles.  We began awhile back, experimenting with different recipes and creating at least one or two disasters.  (Let's not go into that . . . . Baking is about the joy of the process, and by the end of  the process, we had success--i.e. it will change your life, too.)
During said process, we were having a bit of difficulty getting our added flavors to come through without them being "swallowed up" by the rich chocolate.  So, we were wandering around the Brew, handing out truffle samples to the unsuspecting populous (that kind of thing tends to happen a lot when we are experimenting: translation, hang out at the Brew often enough and you'll get to be a sampler as well). While they were good, even excellent, they weren't "change-your-life-amazing," and so before abandoning our pursuit for the day, we decided on one last experiment (which would also inevitably lighten the mood): Jose.
You see, Jose, while very encouraging at times (see his own newly-founded blog), does not possess the most discerning of pallets. And so was born the "peach-almond" truffle (yes, while peachy-chocolate would sound disgusting to the general population, as I stated--not the most discerning pallet).  Alex and I took one of our almond truffles out to him, and while it was pretty hilarious that he didn't even flinch at the idea of peach-chocolate, it was even better when he slowly tasted . . . savored . . . nodded his head, "It's good . . . really good." "Can you taste the peach?" we asked. "Uh huh, yeah . . . but I think it could just use a little more peach." Poor guy. But our spirits were lifted at his expense, enough to finish our project and create the marvelous flavors that are now available for Valentine's Day only, $7.95 a box:

  • Almond (peach flavor not included)
  • Espresso
  • Bourbon Pecan
  • Raspberry Champagne
