This Thanksgiving week has been one worthy of many thanks! Not only were we exceptionally busy with catering orders and customers this week, we were all given Thursday off to be with our families, and most importantly, we welcomed a new little guy to our family at the Brew!
David, Stacey, and Parker welcomed all 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 19 inches of Jack Ryan into their family on Wednesday; what better reminder of how to be thankful! For those of you who remember when Parker was born, David created the “Parker Latte” (white chocolate and rose) and it fit her perfectly… sweet and beautiful. So naturally, the weeks prior to Jack’s birth were spent thinking about the newest latte flavor for his new son!
And, last week, inspiration struck him: Jalapeno Mocha. After a poor attempt by me to mix store bought jalapeno jelly, agave nectar, and vanilla… (not so much)… Jess, and I, along with our friend Priscilla, made some jalapeno jelly and David mixed it with mocha to create a wonderful latte! Now, for those of you who cringed upon reading about a Jalapeno Mocha, you should try one – they are really delicious – much like a Mayan but better! As David posted on facebook, “children are the spice of life”.

It is absolutely wonderful over a brick of cream cheese with some wheat thins! And, it is fun to make, too! (Well except for the awful smell of vinegar and jalapenos cooking that permeates your kitchen and most of your house…)We had so much fun stirring (and coughing and crying) as we were making the jelly and it is a perfect Christmas gift!
Although the latte was set, Jess and I had to create a special cupcake fitting for our latest barista! So, after much brainstorming and testing, we settled on an Almond Joy cupcake: chocolate-almond cupcakes with coconut-chocolate buttercream topped with toasted coconut. They were delicious (I think they are coming again on Monday just so everyone can taste them)! As you can see, we had a great Thanksgiving week here at the Brew. I hope you all had a great time of Thanksgiving with your friends and family, too. We have much to be thankful for.
