INTRODUCING: The Cupcake Grid

For those of you who watch DC CUPCAKES, you have seen the legendary idea they use for sketching out logos and such to make awesome cupcake displays. They simply sketch out the logo or design on a grid, and then they know exactly how to ice each cupcake and then assemble them to have the perfect display. (Maybe I am over my “DC BOYCOTT”).

So, for some unknown reason, when asked to make a cupcake display for Wayland’s leadership conference, I decided it was the perfect time for a grid. The point of the summit was the idea that all of the separate parts, although individually different, are each necessary to make the whole. Seriously, what better way is there to display that concept than an awesome cupcake picture where each cupcake is iced differently but come together to form a recognizable symbol? We had to do a grid.

So, I called Jess (let’s just say it was late) and I was so excited that as I explained my idea she became more and more confused. I think she finally decided to agree with me until the next morning(we would be so much better if she could read my mind). After getting off the phone (oblivious that she had no idea what I was talking about), I decided we would do the Wayland flame and I began sketching the grid. 12:45am = DONE.

5:45am came very soon.

2:30pm came sooner when Jess and I had to leave for Nunn Business Building and set up the cupcakes. Of course, there were miscellaneous problems like realizing that we did not have either napkins or a table to put the cupcakes on... minor details. But, thanks to our resident fairy, Alissa, everything turned out according to plan, and more importantly, everyone enjoyed the cupcakes!
