Apple Season

So I write today from a casita in Santa Fe (wishing there were some decent coffee to be found), while Jess is slaving in the kitchen in Plainview.

I have been planning this trip with my aunt to my favorite place, Santa Fe, NM, for over a month! We have planned spa trips, shopping sprees, and best of all: eating (I am a foodie, what do you want?).

Santa Fe has a special place in my heart; my family and I have been vacationing there for as long as I can remember. And, of course we have our favorite things to do, and our favorite places to eat. We eat breakfast (and then sometimes lunch)at Tia Sophia’s – this one is our very favorite!

And then there is the French Pastry Shop and Creperie. I think this charming bakery inspired me to bake in the first place. Fresh, homemade croissants, danish, quiche, tarts… EVERY morning! It is amazing that I do not weight 600lbs after each visit - good thing we walk everywhere.

October has always been the start of what I think is the best baking season of the year: “The Holidays.” But, contrary to popular opinion, this season does not start with pumpkins – it starts with apples.
Now do not get me wrong, I am a huge pumpkin fan, but we always skip apples! So, at the Brew, we are fully acknowledging apple season with mini apple pies, several varieties of apple cakes, and even apple-spice chai!

So, this morning, at an early 7:00am we are headed to the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market (only the best), on a search for apples.

Apparently you are supposed to bring your own bags to the farmer’s market; this is so you will not dump apples all over the sidewalk (would have been nice to know).

So I will be back at the Brew, bearing apples, very soon.

Come and enjoy!
